Tri-Lakes Special Services Cooperative is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate K-6 Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team. We are an innovative alternative school dedicated to providing a nurturing and empowering educational environment for students who may have struggled in traditional settings.  As a paraprofessional, you will work closely with students who have special needs, providing support and assistance in their educational journey. The position has an emphasis in social-emotional learning skills for our students. The Social Emotional Learning Center is located in Branson MO. Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the special education teacher to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students during classroom activities, ensuring their active participation and engagement
  • Assist students with academic tasks, including reading, writing, math, and other subject areas, as directed by the teacher
  • Support students in developing social skills, behavior management, and self-regulation techniques
  • Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and respect for all students
  • Monitor and document student progress, behaviors, and achievements, reporting observations to the teacher and other relevant staff
  • Assist with the preparation of instructional materials and classroom resources
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as therapists and counselors, to meet the individual needs of students
  • Provide personal care and assistance, if required, including feeding, toileting, and mobility support
  • Follow all school policies and procedures, including those related to safety and confidentiality

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 36 hours of college credit, substitute certificate, or para praxis
  • Experience working with at-risk youth or in alternative education settings would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of special education principles, strategies, and techniques
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the classroom environment
  • Physical stamina to assist with the physical demands of the job, which may include lifting or supporting students with mobility limitations
  • Willingness to participate in professional development and training opportunities
